PASIG CITY, Philippines – July 1, 2026 — The Medical City (TMC) has earned international recognition for the specialties that care for some of the Philippines’ most life-threatening conditions, with Newsweek and Statista ranking its Cardiology program first among Philippine hospitals and recognizing its heart and brain care among the country’s best.

The recognition comes as heart disease and stroke continue to be among the leading causes of death in the Philippines, underscoring the importance of timely access to specialized care.

For patients and their families, the rankings offer independent validation that highly specialized expertise for complex cardiovascular and neurological conditions is available close to home.

THE MEDICAL CITY

The Medical City rose to first among Philippine hospitals in Cardiology, climbed to second in Cardiac Surgery, and remained among the country’s best in the neurosciences in the Newsweek and Statista Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2026 rankings. The annual study evaluates hospitals across the region based on recommendations from medical professionals, hospital quality metrics, and the implementation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

“For patients and their families, choosing where to seek care during a heart attack, stroke, or other complex medical condition is one of the most important decisions they will make. We want this recognition to reassure them that they can receive highly specialized and compassionate care here at The Medical City,” Dr. Ruben G. Kasala, EVP and CEO of TMC Ortigas, shared. “While we are honored by this recognition, our greatest measure of success will always be the lives we improve and the trust our patients place in us.”

THE MEDICAL CITY BEYOND ORTIGAS

Beyond its flagship hospital in Ortigas, The Medical City’s commitment to specialized care was also reflected across its healthcare network. The Medical City Clark was recognized among the Philippines’ leading hospitals for Pediatric Services, highlighting the enterprise’s strength in delivering specialized care for patients across every stage of life.

“These recognitions are meaningful because they reflect the trust our patients place in us and the dedication of our physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams who work together every day to deliver the highest standards of care,” said Dr. Stuart A. Bennett, President and Group CEO of The Medical City.

“We are especially proud that our Cardiology program is now the highest-ranked in the country. And it affirms our commitment to ensuring that Filipinos have access to exceptional, specialized healthcare without having to leave the Philippines.”

FastER

The hospital has strengthened its emergency and critical care capabilities in recent years, including the launch of its enhanced Emergency Department, FastER, which was designed to improve patient flow and accelerate access to emergency treatment.

Complementing this are TMC’s Joint Commission International certifications in heart attack care and primary stroke care programs, as well as its advanced neuroscience services, intensive care units, and comprehensive rehabilitation programs that support patients throughout every stage of care.

The Medical City’s inclusion in the Newsweek and Statista Best Specialized Hospitals Asia Pacific 2026 rankings adds to its growing list of international recognitions, reflecting how it continues to raise the standard of specialized, patient-centered care for Filipinos.
